Common questions

What should I do if my boiler breaks down?

Check the pressure gauge (should be 1–2 bar), pilot light, thermostat settings, and fuse board. If none of those fix it, you need an engineer. Check whether you have boiler cover or home emergency insurance before calling — using cover is almost always cheaper than a callout. Roost's If X happens section stores your boiler's make, model, cover provider and the exact steps to follow.

What happens if my car is written off?

Contact your insurer's claims line — not your broker or the comparison site, the insurer directly. You'll need your policy number, the incident details, and photos of the damage. Your insurer arranges an assessment and either repairs the vehicle or offers a settlement. Roost's vehicle vault stores your policy number and claims number so you have them immediately after an accident.

Who do I call if there's a water leak?

First, find and turn off the main stop tap — usually under the kitchen sink or near the water meter. For a burst or external leak, call your water company's emergency line. For a leak from a neighbour's flat or a burst internal pipe, you'll need an emergency plumber. Roost's home vault stores your stop tap location, plumber contact, and insurer details for exactly this situation.
